Welcome to the website about the genus Pellekaan, van Holst Pellekaan, Pellicaan, Pellikaan. Following the 2nd edition of the "red book" from 2019, I have now also created a website. This site discusses the "Pellicans" that we are still missing, news (blog) and more. If readers of this site know more about Het Geslacht, please send an email with this information. This may also be posted as news on the site.
A new book
A number of years have now passed. This brings me to the 3rd edition. A follow-up to the 2nd edition with additions and corrections. I was approached by many Pellicans if I still had a book. Therefore, since all the books were sold immediately, I am going to make a 3rd edition. There will also be a supplement for those who purchased the 2nd edition. It is not yet known when this will happen, I am still working and am busy. Probably sometime in late 2024 or 2025.
My Story
My name is Johan Pellicaan and I have lived all my life in the Netherlands. I married Eline in 2017. I have two children: Kevin and Kimberly, both now in their thirties. On the 21st of January, 2024 I became a grandfather for the first time to Avelyn, daughter of Kevin and his partner Saskia.
Hobbies
Over the years I have always had the same hobbies. I have been fishing from an early age, especially on the Linge River. I learned this from uncle Jacob de Raat, a brother of my grandmother. I came into contact with golf when I was about thirty. A beautiful sport that I can still enjoy with my wife or friends.
Of course, working on my book about Het Geslacht Pellekaan, by Holst Pellekaan, Pellikaan, Pellicaan, is still a hobby that I pay attention to, especially during the winter months. We have also become members of a jeu de boule club for some time now.
To travel
I have been working in automation since 1981 and have traveled extensively all over the world for my work. With the exception of South America, I have seen all continents several times. That's why I started one at some point blog about the accommodations (often beautiful boutique hotels), the restaurants, and the beautiful golf courses where I played with Eline or with friends and business associates.

Illness
Early June, I was diagnosed, out of the blue, with non hodgkin's lymphona cancer, stage 4. The cancer was all over my body and in my head. Since that time I've spend 15+ week in the hospital and are now in 5th chemo with one more to go according to plan. The good news is that according to the last MRI and pet scan, the cancer is gone (I am clean)! No guarantees but much better news compared to the news I had this summer.
So I hope to recover more, get my strength back again and will be able to do some travel next year with Eline and/or friends and enjoy life.
